WOW, am I the only one who is completely amazed that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Where did 2018 go?? As I was thinking about all the yummy food I was going to consume next week, it got me thinking about more important things. Family! It seems like everyone now is in such a hurry and its hard to make time for extended family (myself included on most days). Between work, kids and a husband, my days and weekends are pretty packed. So, maybe it’s time to take a deep breath, relax and just be in the moment. When I think back on my childhood Thanksgivings with my grandmother and extended family, what I remember the most is sitting around the large beautifully decorated table talking, laughing, eating and enjoying each other’s company! My grandmother’s dishes were stunning! We ate off of “real” plates, not the large paper or styrofoam plates that most people eat off of today (Yes, I am guilty). Thanksgiving is a special time of the year, spent with people we love, so why not put extra effort and time into the little details.
Pull out the china! Let’s see those antique serving dishes your grandmother gave you! The antique turkey gravy boat has been hidden away for way too long! So, leave those paper plates in the cabinet, and lets set out those amazingly beautiful dishes, serving platers and silverware and take a seat at the table!
